Needless to say, you’ve probably noticed it’s been awhile since the last chapter of Underland. This is a testament to not only how fast this year has flown by, but how long I’ve been stuck on the latest chapter! Not so much a matter of writer’s block so much as navigating this big fight scene and how it’s going to play out.
It’s frustrating in that we are just a few chapters away from the end, but I just can’t finish it until it feels right. But hey, it took Tolkien fifteen years to complete The Lord of the Rings so I feel like I’m in good company!
In the meantime, however, I’ve been sitting on this short-story for the last 2 years. By “sitting on it” I mean I’ve been planning it and wanting to serialise it for the last 2 years but I haven’t actually finished writing it yet. Well, that ends this year. The plan is to start serialising it this week, partly to motivate me to complete it but also because I don’t want another year to go by. It’s the kind of story you can only release once a year, so…
Presenting the first short-story set within the world of Underland!
Triumph of the Skies
Ever since I started working on this fantasy world, I’ve had the idea to write short-stories or novellas set within the world, reimagining familiar tales of old, told through the eyes of Underland. Check out the blurb below and join me later this week for the release of Chapter 1!
The people who dwell in thick darkness have seen a great light…a star trails across the sky, bringing a light not seen since the dawn of the First Day. Where it lands no one knows, but they follow its path in hope that they can finally bathe in the light.
But the Morningstars too have seen the light and look upon this portent with dread. The King’s heir arises.
They send their servants to find and end his life, but what they do not anticipate is the cunning of the King. For he has hidden his heir in the last place they would think to look…in the midst of a place of deep darkness.
I haven't gotten it yet, but your book is on my wishlist.
